In July 2006, on my way to fiesta of Paucartambo in Cusco, Peru, I started reading The Agony of Rasu Ñiti, from Peruvian writer José María Arguedas. I was, of course, amazed by its poetry and beauty, but also by its cinematic possibilities. Two years later, I finished Danzak, a short film I wrote and directed that was inspired on that first reading.
Here's some info about this short, its awards and future screenings.
